GYMNASTICS: Sam tumbles into medal party – Northumberland Today

GYMNASTICS gem Sam Dronsfield proved age is no barrier as he defied the odds to win a silver medal in a prestigious national competition.The 14-year-old grabbed the prize at the British NDP Tumbling Finals, held by the British Gymnastics Association in Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent, on Saturday.It was an exceptional effort from the Glanton teenager who had recently moved up to the over 15-year-old category and was not expecting to walk away with a medal.But despite being one of the youngest gymnasts in his group, he grabbed second spot in the age group’s elite 2 competition. And he did it in dramatic fashion, getting his hands on the silver medal with his last tumble, which helped him notch a total score of 76.70.
