Spelbound call in to Deerness Gymnastic Centre Ushaw Moor

BRITAIN’S Got Talent winners Spelbound were in the region brushing up their acrobatic skills yesterday as they prepare to represent the UK at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Poland.

Members of the troupe were up early for training – the day after a successful appearance at the Metro Arena, Newcastle, for a Britain’s Got Talent tour.

They used the gymnastics facilities at the Deerness Leisure Centre, in Ushaw Moor, near Durham, to hone their display.

Spelbound stormed the Britain’s Got Talent final with their human skipping ropes and flying over the judges’ heads.

Head coach Neil Griffiths said: “We entered the Britain’s Got Talent competition mainly with the purpose of raising the profile of the sport.”

Four members of Deerness Valley Gymnastics Club will also represent Great Britain in next month’s championships.
