The Safe Durham Partnership – Durham County Council

The Government requires specific organisations to work together in partnership to reduce crime in their local area. In County Durham this partnership is called the Safe Durham Partnership.

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998, as amended by the Police and Justice Act 2006, states that local authorities must create partnerships to tackle crime, disorder, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour issues and reduce re-offending.

The main organisations within the Safe Durham Partnership are known as the ‘responsible authorities’ and include: Durham County Council Durham Constabulary County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service Durham Police Authority County Durham NHS Durham Tees Valley Probation Trust
