Council confirms consultation on leisure centre closure plans From The Northern Echo

A COUNCIL has formally confirmed its intention to consult on closing six leisure centres in the region.

Durham County Council will meet on Wednesday to discuss the issue, after the proposals were revealed in The Northern Echo on Monday.Centres in Ferryhill, Coxhoe and Sherburn as well as Glenholm in Crook, Deerness in Ushaw Moor and Abbey in Pity Me could close if third party operators cannot be found.
