Farewell to furry friends (From The Northern Echo)

“I’m a devoted cat lover and have had pets most of my life, but am aware that people, when their pets die, don’t feel able to talk about it because they feel people will think they’re silly or simply don’t know who to talk to,” he says, sitting in the counselling room at his home in Ushaw Moor, near Durham.

Two places up for grabs in six-a-side league From The Northern Echo

TWO more teams are needed to make up the numbers for a new six-a-side football league.Durham Thursday Sixes League is set to start at the Sir Bobby Robson Sports Centre, at Durham Community Business College, in Bracken Court, Ushaw Moor, near Durham.Ten teams have signed up to take part, six in one division and, so far, four in the other, for which there remain vacancies for two further sides.

Weeds getting out of control along footpath between 117 Oakridge Road and 119, have on occasion cleared this myself, but now unable. Starting to get out of control.

Performance of the day came at Ushaw Moor where Stephen Ball 120no and Chris Peareth 145 shared a mammoth opening stand for Brandon 309-1, the shell-shocked Moor ending on 237-8.
